Lynsey Farrell

Lynsey Farrell is a PhD Candidate in the department of anthropology at Boston University. She has been involved in civil society work in Nairobi since 2002 when she was in Kenya as a Fulbright grantee. In the summer of 2005, she was introduced to Carolina for Kibera as a summer volunteer, primarily assisting in the Binti Pamoja program. She returned to Kenya in July 2007 to start her dissertation research on youth culture, ethnicity and nationalism in Kibera. As she completes this work, she will also be coordinating the American University study abroad program in Nairobi. She continues to find time to volunteer with the CFK Kenya staff on a variety of projects - most recently helping to organize the Jamii ya Kibera post-conflict peace initiatives. She is fluent in Kiswahili.
